21 November 2008Don’t Break the Google Doc Chain!
If you read Lifehacker.com or follow productivity you are probably familiar with the Jerry Seinfeld “Don’t Break the Chain!” productivity secret. If you are not, just click here to get up to speed. In a nutshell, you keep a visual calendar to mark the progress of a goal the way a prisoner X’s off the remaining days of his sentence off his prison calendar. Don’t mind my analogy it is a lot more inspiring than that.
Ever since that article came out there have been many apps to assist you in “not breaking the chain.” This is implementation that will not cost you any money, require registration or privacy concerns other than the ones you already have with Google, if you have them. This one uses Google Spreadsheets and Forms to mark your makeshift calendar off with a single field form submit. This will work on your iPhone or iGoogle so wherever you are you can keep the chain unbroken. The calendar advances automatically so all you have to do is pull up your form for that one activity and hit submit. Adding it to your iPhone is as simple as bookmarking a link to the Google form. If you are interested in a Google template you can click here to view it and add it to your Google docs, I believe, where you can customize it.
Be Creative.
