The other side of procrastination is frustration. It is the kind of frustration that makes you want to beat the crap out of someone or something. A bi-polar dance of inactivity and your response to the inevitable consequences when you know you could have done or got it done better. It’s as easy to get into a fighting mood over things you have not been responsible for so why not channel some of the energy to good use. The metaphor I am pushing here is productivity as a fight in the ring of life where your best opponent is you. Get ready for the fight of your life.
The 10 minute work plus 2 minute rest productivity hack adapts very well to a 10 minute round plus 2 minute “go to your corner” routine. At the end of your 5 rounds you can see if you are getting your thing done out there in the ring. This context allows you to fully embrace the warrior aspect that David Allen so often refers to. You can even turn your boxing ring into an octagon for the Ultimate Fighting Context. “It’s the tricks!” David also says and this trick would not be complete without the right tools. After all we are talking about rounds. We’ll need a bell, an announcer and a way to keep track of time.

It may just be that the best way to fight procrastination is to get into one. A fight with yourself - ultimately your most difficult opponent. You can rest assured that given the nature of the situation you both will probably be evenly matched. However, it is a fight worth fighting and one you can engage with everyday of your life. Just remember the main rules. First rule of fiGhT Done, do not talk about fiGhT Done until you are done with your fight. Second rule of fiGhT Done, do not talk about fiGhT Done until you are done with your fiGhT Done. Third rule, you must fight everyday. Last rule, if you refuse to fight, you are done.
